Why Charanda?
"Charanda," in the Tarasco, dialect of the central Mexican state of Michoacan, means a rich, red colored soil. The combination of this soil with the Michoacan climate is ideal for the cultivation of great, flavorful grains like corn and beans, which have been for centuries a traditional staple of every Mexican kitchen.
